Short Bio
Zsolt Darvas is Research Fellow at the Institute of Economics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest where he has been working since 2008. From 2005 to 2008, he was the Research Advisor of the Argenta Financial Research Group in Budapest. Before that, he worked at the research unit of the Central Bank of Hungary (1994-2005) where he served as Deputy Head during 2001-2005. He had visiting researcher positions at many institutions, such as the Bank of Finland, Deutsche Bundesbank, De Nederlandsche Bank, Stockholm School of Economics and Bruegel – Brussels European and Global Economic Laboratory. He serves as the Secretary of the Economics Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 2002. Zsolt Darvas holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Corvinus University of Budapest, where, among other institutions, he teaches courses in Econometrics since 1994. His research interests include macroeconomics, international economics, central banking and time series analysis. Zsolt Darvas has many publications in international and Hungarian journals and his work continues to be very influential. As recorded on the IDEAS webpage, http://ideas.repec.org/top/top.hungary.html, for example, he is ranked among the top 10 authors who claimed some affiliation in Hungary. He gave presentation at more than 50 conferences and seminars outside Hungary, such as the annual conferences of the American Economic Association, European Economic Association, Royal Economic Society and Econometric Society.
